WED, JULY 08 2020-theG&BJournal-The Federal Government Wednesday reneged on earlier plans to reopen schools to allow final year secondary school students in Nigeria to write their Senior Secondary School Certificate examinations (SSCE).
The schools in the country were earlier given the nod to reopen from July 13 for graduating students in primary six, JSS 3 and SS3.
The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu broke the ‘’sad’’ news after the virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting during a press conference at the State House, Abuja.
Adamu Adamu said Nigerian schools will not reopen until COVID-19 pandemic drastically subsides in the country. His announcement effectively removes all Nigerian students from the SSCE exam scheduled to begin on August 4 to September 5 2020.
