…U.S Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed that the Pentagon has begun preparing for action.

SUN NOV 02 2025-theGBJournal| The Federal Government has again released a hurried statement after the U.S President Donald Trump threatened Nigeria with U.S military action if it doesn’t confront killings of Christians.

”If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killings of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ”gun-a-blazing,” to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.

The U.S President’s threat of military action comes a day after he designated Nigeria a ”country of concern” under the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act.

But in a short statement released by President Tinubu’s media chief, Bayo Onanuga, following the threat, the Federal Government said Trump’s threat is ”orchestrated.”

”President Bola Tinubu was well ahead of the orchestrated game unfolding in America as he told the new service chiefs on Thursday what Nigerians expect of them. No more excuses, he said. Nigerians want results,” Onanuga said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In the statement Onanuga reprinted what he says President Tinubu told the newly appointed Services chiefs last Thursday.

The reprint reads; ”Security threats are constantly evolving, constantly mutating. Of grave concern to our administration is the recent emergence of new armed groups in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South.

We must not allow these new threats to fester. We must be decisive and proactive. Let us smash the new snakes right in the head.

I charge you, as the heads of our nation’s armed forces, to carry out your duties with patriotic zeal. Nigerians expect results, not excuses.

I charge you also to be innovative, pre-emptive, and courageous. Let’s stay ahead of those who seek to threaten our peace. Let us deploy technology where necessary. We cannot allow the crisis that began in 2009 to persist any longer.

I wish you success as you take up the challenge. I promise to provide all the support you need to get the job done.”

Many Nigerians responding to Onanuga’s post on X were unimpressed with the statement, dismissing it as ”medicine after death,” while referencing Tinubu’s frenetic criticism of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s handling to the Boko Haram threats at their early days.

Meanwhile, President Trump has since instructed the Department of War to prepare for possible action, warning that if they attack it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorists thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: The Nigerian Government Better Move fast!,” Trump wrote.

U.S Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed subsequently that the Pentagon has begun ”preparing for action.”
