MON, 16 MAY, 2022-theGBJournal | The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has released the list of top tax complaint companies in Nigeria in 2021, naming the Nigeria Liquefied Petroleum Gas Company as Most Supportive Taxpayer, the Nigeria National Petroleum Company as the highest taxpayer and Mobil Producing Unlimited among Top Performing Tax Payer.
Other companies listed as Top Performing Tax Payer are Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited, MTN Nigeria, Shell Petroleum, Chevron Nigeria, Total E&P Nigeria, Airtel Network, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, Nestle Nigeria, Dangote Cement, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Total Upstream Nigeria, Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, Nig Agip Oil Co, British American Tobacco Marketing, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc and Lafarge Africa Plc.
FIRS crossed the N6 trillion threshold for the first time in 2021, surpassing its tax collection target for the year.
‘’Of particular importance is the contribution of our much esteemed taxpayers, they defied the very harsh global economic conditions imposed by the lingering COVID-19 pandemic to produce a heroic performance in tax payment,’’ FIRS said. It said theirm combined efforts made it possible for the service o achieve the tax revenue collection of 2021 which provided ‘’our governments with necessary funds to meet their social contracts with citizens.’’
The FIRS also mentioned Northern Cables Processing and Manufacturing Limited (NOCACO) and Ikeja Electric Plc for being most improved in tax filling and VAT compliance respectively.
‘’We urge all taxpayers to join hands with FIRS to make taxation the pivot of our nation’s development and economic growth,’’ FIRS said.
