Federal Government evacuates more Nigerians stranded abroad because of pandemic

TUE, AUG 11 2020-theG&BJournal-In continuation of the process of evacuating stranded Nigerians from different parts of world, 313 more Nigerians are expected back today from New Delhi, India. They will be flown back by Air Peace Airlines, according to the Ministry of foreign Affairs.
On Monday, 288 evacuees from the United Arab Emirates arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport bringing the total number evacuated from the Emirates to 2, 641. The Nigerian in Diaspora Commission said they all tested negative to COVID-19 on arrival and are now on a 14-day self-isolation as mandated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Another set of 327 in London was evacuated on August 9th and it follows the evacuation of 332 from the Gatwick Airport on August 8 by Air Peace. Ethiopian Air from Addis Ababa also arrived same day with 94 Nigerians on board.
Meanwhile, The Federal Government approved the ninth and last evacuation from Newark, USA to Abuja and Lagos on Monday and they are due back the country on board Ethiopian Airlines flights on Friday, 21 August 2020.
