SUN, JAN 26 2020-theG&BJournal– The Federal Government, which recently unveiled its Methanol Fuel Technology Policy, has agreed to forge strategic partnership with Delta State government to tap from the large gas deposit in the State to monetise domestic gas production in the country.
This was discussed during a meeting in Abuja weekend between the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu and Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State.
According to Okowa, Delta State has been working to effectively utilise its natural gas resources through the proposed establishment of the Kwale Industrial Park. He said the State will continue to discuss and strategise with the Ministry to ensure Methanol Fuel is effectively used to benefit that country.
Ogbonnaya Onu noted that the Methanol Policy had entered its first phase of implementation and the six geo-political zones would be sensitised on it.
‘’Methanol will protect our forests because depending on firewood to cook is not what we should be doing at this time,’’ the Minister said.
The Federal Government inaugurated the Technical Committee on Methanol Fuel Technology on Monday 20 August 2018 in Abuja.
