SAT NOV 15 2025-theGBJournal| Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside numerous other party members seen as saboteurs.

The ”decisive decision” to expel Wike was taken today during the PDP National Convention taking place at the historic ancient city of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital

Expelled alongside Nyesom Wike are Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Ayo Fayose, Austin Nwachukwu, Umar Bature, Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN), and Mohammed Abdalrahman.

Others are Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah George Turner and Chief Dan Orbih, all of who have been in the centre of the crisis that threatened to sink the country’s second largest opposition party.

All have been adjudged to be engaged in anti-party activities.

The PDP said in a statement that the landmark decision is taken in move to restore unity, discipline, and focus ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision which was promptly ratified by an overwhelming majority of the delegates at party’s Ibadan Convention, underscores the party’s commitment to eradicating internal divisions and anti-party conduct that have plagued its progress.

The PDP cited Articles 33(2)(1),(2)(j) (n) and (r) of the Party’s Constitution 2017 (as amended) in executing their action, adding that the above mention individuals ”have committed various breaches of the Party’s Constitution including and canvassing votes for opposition.”

The expulsion of Wike from the Party is seen as long over due given his years of conflicting stand on the future of the Party.

”They needed to do this, otherwise the PDP will be a dead party before the next general election,” said one political analyst in Lagos who spoke to the G&BJournal as the development unfolded.

”This is the beginning of the down fall of Wike,” he adds.
