FRI, AUGUST 04 2023-theGBJournal |The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has suspended all ariport car hire services at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, with immediate effect.
FAAN, in statement signed by its Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua Thursday said, the suspension resulted from the unresolved factional squabble amongst the car hire operators which has been affecting airport car hire service operations.
FAAN said the car hire services can resume as soon as as the operators resolve their differences and advised passengers and the general public to use secured alternative means of transportation or E-hailing services in and out of the airport.
Passengers seen at the airport by theGBJournal expressed support for FAAN’s action, saying it is a long overdue action due to the ”abnormal” charges imposed by the taxi operators on passengers, particularly those using the airport for the first time as well as the unruliness of the taxi drivers.
They also raised safety and security concerns and urged the FAAN management to encourage E-hailing services as the preferred operators at the airport.
They also urged FAAN to replicate the measure across other airports in the country.
