WED, 01 JUNE, 2022-theGBJournal| Starting the new month, the local bourse maintained the losing streak for the third consecutive session as the benchmark Index lost 1.24% to close at 52,974.15 points, the lowest level since 25 May.
Bearish sentiment in OKOMU OIL (-10.00%), FBNH (-4.62%) and ACCESSCORP (-1.00%) overturned gains in BUAFOODS (+3.11%), DANGSUGAR (+2.94%), UBA (+1.94%) and GTCO (+0.22%), dragging down the market. As a result, the ASI’s year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 24.01%, while the market capitalization shed N357.42bn to close at N28.56trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions declining by 3.32%. A total of 295.35m shares valued at N3.59bn were exchanged in 4,637 deals. TRANSCORP (+4.00%) led the volume with 121.84m units, while AIRTELAFRI (+0.00%) led the value chart in deals worth N573.23m.
Market breadth closed negative a 1.36-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. OKOMUOIL (-10.00%) topped eighteen (18) others on the laggard’s table, while ETERNA (+9.90%) led thirteen (13) others on the leader’s log.
