WED 07 JULY, 2021-theGBJournal- In the 105th minute, the England captain Harry Kane fell in the penalty box, from the slightest of tackles from a Danish defender. The referee pointed to the spot for a penalty.

Commentators suspected and questioned the decision, analysts called it dubious and not many at Wembley Stadium, London today believed it was a penalty.

It was given after a VAR check. Kane stepped up and struck it hard and low. It bounced off the outstanding Danish Goal Keeper Kasper Schmeichel and fell for Kane again who struck decisively to put England 2-1, a goal that eventually sent England to a major championship final in 55 years.

Danish wonder kid Mikkel Damsgaard had earlier stunned the Wembley crowd with a skilful free kick to put Denmark one goal up in the first half, the first goal conceded by England in the tournament. England got their equaliser when Danish captain Simon Kjaer kneed the ball into his own gaol while scrambling to defend a low wicked cross by England’s youngster Bukayo Saka.

It was a very hard fought and evenly balanced game.

England will play Italy in the final on Sunday. Italy went through to the final Tuesday after a quarrelling 4-2 penalty win against Spain.
