TUE OCT 01 2024-theGBJournal| Emirate first inaugural return flight to Nigeria landed today at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) after eight hours (delayed) flight from the UAE.

The news of the return posted one X handle of one of the airline flight operators, SSM (@Moha_Madugu) seen by theG&BJournal reads; ”A very special day for me today, I have the honor of operating our inaugural return flight to Lagos, Nigeria 🇳🇬 @LOSairport. Today I’ll be flying both the Emirates and Nigerian flag very high 🇦🇪 🇳🇬 ! Thank you, Emirates
A flight time of slightly over 8hours today. #EkoOniBaje.”

The return to Nigeria, and on Independence Day, is a significant milestone and cements the recent ”reciprocal rights” sealed between Nigeria and the UAE, negotiated by Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

The Emirates Airline is returning, two years after it suspended operations to Nigeria.

“We are excited to resume our services to Nigeria. The Lagos-Dubai service has traditionally been popular with customers in Nigeria and we hope to reconnect leisure and business travellers to Dubai and onwards to our network of over 140 destinations, Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer said when the airline first hinted on its return in May of this year.
