The Emir of Kadnam, Alhaji Babangida Mu’azu, has called on the Federal Government to adopt dialogue in responding to the threats by militants in the Niger Delta region.
The emir made the call in an interview on Wednesday in his palace at Dengi in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau.
“The threat by the militant (Niger Delta) should not be taken lightly, but with all seriousness, so as to calm down the situation in the region.
“Dialogue is a better option.
“We have been enjoying some relative peace because of the efforts being made by our security agencies, therefore, the government should intensify efforts to calm down the situation, ’’ the traditional said.
Mu’azu, however, stressed that laxity that brought about the colossal loss of lives and property in the North-East from the activities of Boko Haram should not be allowed to repeat itself.
Speaking on the economy, the traditional ruler appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration as the president had been making conscious effort to correct mistakes of the past.
He said the fight against corruption and effort to diversify the economy were “very good moves’’ that could put the country in the right direction to recovery.
“I am aware that life is so hard for all Nigerians, but we just have to exercise some patience with the administration and see what its repair efforts could bring to us.
“Every good plan and good thing go with a price; we should be patient with the government in expectation for the best,’’ he said.
The emir, however, urged the government to take steps to create employment opportunities for the youths.
He also advised the youths to think of alternatives rather than waiting for white collar jobs which were not readily available.
The emir wished the Muslim Umma a peaceful, fruitful and successful Ramadan.
