FRI MAY 24 2024-theGBJournal| Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano has officially delivered a letter of reappointment to the 16th Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, barely 24 hours after he signed the new Kano Emirate Council law at Government House, Kano, and announced the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano State.
Emir Sanusi II, the ex-Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, arrived the ancient, historic city in a vintage Rolls Royce surrounded by palace guards and thousands of enthusiastic indigene.
Sanusi II was reinstated as the Emir of Kano four years after was controversially deposed by ex-governor Ganduje.
The reinstatement comes amidst a court ruling intended to stop the reinstatement. On Thursday, a Federal High Court in Kano had issued the order to stop Kano State Government from reinstating Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The Court also ruled that the implementation of the new law, which the Kano Emirate Council made and passed by the State House of Assembly, scrapping four Emirates-Bichi, Gaya, Karaye and Rano- be suspended.
Recall that the Kano State House of Assembly on Thursday passed into law a Bill by written by the Kano State Emirates Councils seeking to return the Kano Emirate to its pre-2019 status.
