The treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo state chapter, Alhaji Salihu Momoh, has called on Nigerians to embrace the long-term solutions being proffered by President Muhammadu Buhari to the problems bedeviling the nation.
Momoh who said this while briefing journalists in Benin, on steps taken by the Buhari’s administration in revamping the nation’s dwindling economy, said short-term solutions could not redeem Nigeria from the socio-political ditch the PDP administration plunged it into.
He noted that President Buhari has laid down plans to diversify the economy, adding that the nation needs to diversify sources of revenue generation in order for her to meet the yearnings of the Nigerian populace.
“Sixteen years rule of the PDP was characterized by short-term solutions which could not profer lasting solution to the existence problems facing Nigerians.
“In doing this, the country needs to formulate long-term plans,” Momoh added.
According to him, only long-term solutions that could guarantee enhanced level of development, particularly when it comes to balancing of trade , technical capacity for Nigerians, transfer of technology, industrialization and all the things that Nigeria needs as it embark on its own industrialization journey.
He said the present administration has taken a firm stand to revamp the agricultural sector of the economy so as to reduce the nation’s dependence on crude oil.
