TUE, 06 OCT, 2020-theGBJournal-Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai today unveiled the States 2021 budget proposal, heavily focused on economic and social sector development with capital expenditure taking a huge chunk of allocation.
The Proposed budget size is N237.52 billion, with N157.56 billion as capital expenditure and N79.96 billion in recurrent expenditure-a 66% to 34% capital to recurrent ratio.
The governor said the spending plan preserves investment levels in education and health, while continuing projects in the urban renewal programmes.
The draft 2021 budget was presented to the State’s House of Assembly today after it was subjected to public consultation at a town hall meeting on October 3, 2020 where the Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Thomas Gyang revealed the budget takes into account the economic impact of COVID-19 and the consequent uncertainties.
N38 billion is allocated to the education sector while N22.6 billion is proposed for the health sector and the infrastructure is allocated a total of N37.4 billion.
