The Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Youth and Sports, Mr Lanre Ogunsuyi, on Tuesday said the state government would soon complete the repair of the damaged roofs of the state pavilion and stadium.
Ogunsuyi said in Ado-Ekiti that the contractor handling the project was delaying its completion.
He said that former Gov. Kayode Fayemi awarded the contract for the construction of the state pavilion and the refurbishing of the stadium to a contractor could not complete them.
Ogunsuyi said he had visited the two sites to assess the level of damages caused by heavy wind to some parts of the building within the stadium and pavilion.
The state government would be spending over N1 million to effect the repairs, he said.
“I am not happy seeing the ugly condition of the state pavilion and the stadium but due to paucity of funds, the state government was unable to repair the affected areas.
“As soon as funds are available, the repairs will be carried out,” he said.
The commissioner appealed to civil servants and corps members using the facilities to exercise patience with the state government.
