LAGOS, JUNE 13, 2018 – The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) says it will ensure uninterrupted power supply within its operational territory throughout the Eid-El-Fitr holidays.
Mr Godwin Idemudia, the General Manager, Corporate Communications of EKEDC, gave the assurance in a statement in Lagos.
“We are aware of high expectations of our customers to enjoy steady power supply during this festival.
“The company has put in place necessary measures to ensure that our consumers enjoy uninterrupted electricity supply during the period and beyond,’’ Idemudia said.
He said EKEDC would ensure that energy from the National Grid was equitably distributed to all customers within the network.
“EKEDC has put in place measures to ensure that the customers’ hopes are not dashed.
“Ikoyi and other adjoining areas in Lagos Island will experience power interruption for four hours daily during this period.
“This is to enable the company to carry out service improvement rehabilitation work on Shaw Road 11KV Feeder covering the areas.
“Steady power supply will be available in other areas within EKEDC network during the holidays.
“We want to appeal to consumers under the network that should there be any spark from the poles or fault from EKEDC transformers, our technical crew is on standby in all our business units.
“Our technical crew will work throughout the Eld-El-Fitr holidays to rectify electrical faults so that customers can enjoy the holidays,” Idemudia said.
He, however, appealed to customers within its territory to pay their monthly electricity bills promptly to avoid disconnection by the company.
The general manager warned customers against harassment of its personnel on lawful duty, adding that EKEDC would not tolerate assault of any of its staff.
Idemudia also warned against vandalism and tampering with EKEDC equipment in the zone, saying that it could cause deaths, serious injuries and power outage.
