TUE, FEB 25 2020-theG&BJournal- Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has died, aged 91. Mubarak came to power in 1981 after the assassination of former president Anwar Sadat and was eventually toppled after three decades during the Arab spring uprising in 2011.
His family said he had surgery in January to remove a stomach tumour.
He was jailed for life for conspiring to murder protesters and spent his jail term between Cairo’s Tora prison and Maadi military hospital. He spent a total of six years in jail before being released in 2017 by Egypt’s Supreme Court
