SOUTH AFRICA, JULY 26, 2016 – Edo International Club, a socio-cultural group Edo people in South Africa, on Tuesday urged the next governor of the state to create jobs and fight crime.Mr Kennedy Osagie, a founding member of the club, said at Kimberly, Northern Cape Province of South Africa, that the new governor should also pay attention to wealth creation.

He said the Sept. 10 governorship election in the state was an opportunity for the people to elect the best candidate.

“We want the next governor to improve on what is on ground. We think that Job creation and fight against crime should be given priority attention,’’ he said.

Osagie, Chairman of Nigeria Union in Northern Cape Province of South Africa, also urged the people not to sell their votes.

“Edo indigenes in South Africa appeal to our people at home not to sell their votes.

“They should vote for a candidate that will move the state forward. It is unfortunate there is no Diaspora vote, we cannot vote,’’ he said.

Osagie said that Edo people in the Diaspora would be happy if the state could have a free, fair and credible election.

“It is our desire that on the day of election, our people should have a violence-free election. Our state deserves to have the best,’’ he said.
Osagie called on political parties to play the game according to the rules.
