SAT, JUNE 10 2023-theGBJournal |The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports the sacked Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele is in their custody.
”Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS,” the state security agency said in a very brief statement on their twitter handle. The DSS did not offer any further explanation.
Emefiele has not been seen nor has he spoken since he was fired Friday by the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
But unconfirmed video circulated on social showed Emefiele taken into custody by men who wore DSS uniforms. And sources close to the embattled former CBN governor say he is ”in some sort of custody” but could not confirm which security agency took him.
Emefiele was fired ”sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy,” according to a statement late Friday issued by Willie Bassey, Director, Information for Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
