MON SEPT 09 2024-theGBJournal| Agents of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested and detained the President of Nigeria Labour Congress President, Joe Ajaero.

The leadership of the Congress raised the alarm on his detention in a short note on X (formerly twitter) describing Ajaero’s arrest as an ”Assault on Nigeria Workers.”

It is not clear yet why the DSS effected the arrest and detention.

The NLC said Ajaero was ”arrested and abducted” by men of DSS at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja this morning on his way to attend an official engagement of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) United Kingdom and he is now detained at the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

Recall that the Ajaero was twice invited by the Nigeria Police Force over alleged criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.

Ajaero’s second invitation (signed on August 28, 2024), according to the Police was in furtherance of an investigation into alleged ”criminal intimidation, maliciuous damage to properties, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.”

Ajaero honored the invitations accompanied by the NLC counsel, Femi Falana (SAN).
