TUE, APRIL. 18 2023-theGBJournal |The Kogi state gubernatorial race for the Lugard House’s seat of power was seen and still being seen as a political one, which may likely or like any other be bedeviled by the powers that be, and with expectations of favoritism, imbroglio and brouhaha.
However, it is taking a better and be greater turn through the Young Progressive Party (YPP), as a son of the soil Dr. Same Omale; UK based leader, visionary per excellence and one a vessel who sees it as an opportunity to transform Kogi State wins the ticket.
Omale who was unanimously confirmed by the 184 delegates who congregated in Lokoja, Kogi state capital, on Monday for the primary election, during which the female contestant Mrs. Funmilayo Olumodeji voluntarily stepped down, making him become the party’s sole aspirant.
The Chairman Screening Committee of Kogi YPP Primary governorship election, David Komolafe, said Omale had been duly screened and certified okay to pick the party’s governorship ticket.
While appreciating the other aspirants, and delegates for their support for the election, The State’s chairman the party, Dr Victor Akubo, affirmed the decision of the party, congratulated the party’s candidate for emerging winner, and urged him to make the party and state proud when he became Kogi governor.
Dr. Akubo missed no word when he described the governorship candidate as God fearing, transparent, accountable and competent man, saying his emergence was the will of God. He as well thanked the INEC officials for their presence to monitor the exercise, saying it was a free, fair, credible and transparent process.
The election was conducted on Monday in Lokoja, in the presence of INEC officials’ led by Mr. Egbeye Olagoke.
Dr. Omale thanked the delegates and the entire party members for giving him their mandate, assured them he would not disappoint them if elected as Kogi governor, and confident about every word he speaks, as they will come to pass.
He indeed is full of hope that he will become the Governor of Kogi State and will transform every sector including agriculture, health care, and education as he leverages on the support of Prof. Abraham O. A amongst other academicians and professionals in Diaspora to improve the educational landscape of the confluence hub to an enviable height.
