TUE. 11 APRIL 2023-theGBJournal | Family members of late Dr. Chuba Kashi (Uba), journalist, author and public commentator who worked with Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in Delta State, say they are outraged by the disappointing outburst of MS Loretta Onochie, a public figure, on the death of their brother, for political scores.
MS Loretta Onochie referenced the late Chuba Keshi in a fiery salvo credited to her and targeted at Senator Omo-Agege saying, ‘’may the spirit of Uba Keshi, (the man you used but couldn’t pay him a decent wage to get medical help) haunt you until you learn to respect and appreciate PEOPLE.’’
‘’To set the records straight, our brother took ill suddenly, drove himself to the closest clinic to his home in Abuja and died before help could get to him,’’ the Keshi family said in a statement signed by Dr Onochie Keshi MD, Uba’s eldest brother.
They said they consider the use of his name for political purposes to be in bad faith, adding ‘’we therefore find it offensive and in bad faith to drag this unfortunate incident into any political brawl with the Deputy Senate President.’’
The keshis say they also find it appalling that the post suggested that their brother died because he had no money to pay for medical care due to a perceived maltreatment from his boss the Deputy Senate President.
‘’To the best of our knowledge, Dr Chuba Keshi worked amicably and closely as an important resource person and speech writer to the Deputy Senate President.’’
‘’Please Allow us to mourn our brother with dignity and in peace, and please desist from using our brother as a political pawn and allow him to rest in perfect peace,’’ they urged.
The late Dr Chuba Keshi is a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Strategy and holds M. Sc in International Management from the University of Liverpool and B. Sc in Political Science at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He is the Author of the acclaimed book, ‘’The Politics of Last Resorts’’.
