SUN, 10 JULY, 2022-theGBJournal| The Centre Court at Wimbledon’s All England Club rose again to salute Serbian Novak Djokovic after he fended off the animated and often exciting-to-watch Nick Kyrgios in an absorbing final today to claim his fourth successive title.
Djokovic beat Nick Kyrgios 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 in an absorbing heat to put him level with his boyhood idol Pete Sampras on seven title and one behind Roger Federer who won eight titles.
The win gave Djokovic his 21st Grand Slam title. Only Spaniard Rafael Nadal has won more titles on 22 titles.
‘’He is a bit of a god, I am not going to lie’’ says Kyrgios at post-match interview in reference to Djokovic’s tenuous play. ‘’I taught I played well,’’ he added, while congratulating Djokovic for the win.
It was Kyrgios Grand Slam final at Wimbledon and said he hopes to come back in the future ‘’but I don’t know when.’’
