Delta State tops as INEC registers 10.235 million fresh voters in run up to 2023 general elections

TUE, 31 MAY, 2022-theGBJournal| The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on its Continuous Voter Registration Portal (CVR) update, notes that it has scored 10,235,569 fresh registrants as at 7am Monday 30th May 2022.

6,544,245 of these are completed registration. 2,928,447 were recorded as online registration while 3,615,798 was scored as physical.

Meanwhile, the number of women registering to vote outnumbers men in the update. In the latest update, 3,290,804 women have registered compared to 3,253,441 reported as male registrants. But overall, more male have registered since the exercise began-9,947320 male compared to 8,965,191.

So far, INEC is reporting that a total of 18,912,511 have registered online. According to INEC, the total figure includes applications for voter transfer, requests for replacement of PVCs, update of voter information record, etc.

The youths are toping the overall list with 11,541,818 registered youths followed by the middle aged (39-49yrs) at 4,876,666 and the elderly (50-69yrs) at 2,195122 while the old (70 yrs & above) totals 298,905.

People with Disability are also turning out in droves, 53, 663 in all were captured in the CVR update.

Delta State tops the list of freshly completed registration with 327,852 followed by Bayelsa-326,450 and Rivers with 317,427. In Delta also is leading in online registration with 632, 604 followed by Bayelsa State at 347,590 and Rivers at 379,654 registering via online, according to INEC data.
