THUR DEC 11 2025-theGBJournal| Delta State Government is set to unveil a major upgrade to security operations, a Geographic Information System (GIS) to improve crime mapping and intelligence gathering across the state.

The Director General, Security Matters, Mr. David Tonwe, in a statement posted on X today, said the new system marks a shift from traditional reactive policing to modern, technology driven security management.

As part of the digital upgrade, the state has also launched mobile emergency reporting applications, popularly known as “Report a Crime” apps.

These tools computer-based allow residents to report suspicious activities and submit photos, videos, and precise location details directly to security authorities in real time.

The GIS, also collects, store, analyze, and visualize data linked to a specific location, helping authorities understand and manage environments and make informed decision.

Tonwe noted that the combination of GIS and mobile reporting platforms is expected to improve surveillance coverage, shorten response times, and enhance public participation in security.

He added that the digital systems will help deter criminal activity, strengthen intelligence gathering, and restore public confidence in law enforcement across Delta State.
