TUE, APRIL 28 2020-theG&BJournal- The Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa announced today transport services within the State will be allowed to operate, but restricted passenger intake across the various mode of transportation.
The Asaba airport however, remains closed to passenger traffic until further notice. In the new measure, Kekes are allowed to take passengers at the back, Taxis (cars) are allowed 1 passenger I front and two at the back while 16/18 seater busses are allowed 10 to 12 passengers maximum.
The measures were backed by the state’s Public Health, the Quarantine Act; and the Infectious Diseases (Emergency Prevention) Regulation.
Under the law, the use of face masks is now mandatory for all residents of the state, in public places. Conferences, sporting activities, conventions as well as recreational and cultural/communal activities remained banned until 31st May 2020. Schools, both public and private, cinemas, bars and night clubs will remain closed until the end of May 2020.
The Governor also allowed burials and weddings but with strict adherence to social distancing rule and guests must not exceed 50. Restaurants and canteens are to operate a take-away only policy, while hotels will be allowed to open (with in-room dinning).
