WED, 18 MAY, 2022-theGBJournal | In Delta State, some group of individuals, believed to be adherents of Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) decided to enforce the to shun the ‘Sit at home’ order, thereby creating panic and fear in the streets of Bonsac, Oduke, Oko and Okwe in the capital territory.
Markets, some private schools and Asaba residents chose to observe the ‘sit-at-home’ order to demand the unconditional release of the IPOB leaders, Mr Nnamdi Kanu.
Many individuals who went out for their various business had to run back home for safety of their lives. Most private schools within Bonsac and Oduke area sent their students back home and they have decide to observe another ‘ sit at home’ exercise tomorrow.
Speaking with one of the proprietors of a private school in Oduke who does not want her name and that of her school in print says, she expressed unhappiness at order, saying that Delta State was not part the East, and wondered why the order should be imposed on Deltans.
She pleaded that Governor Okowa should ensure strict security in the state so that individuals can go about their daily activities.
Mr Nze, a trader in Oko Market said that he was not afraid of the order and that as far as he was concerned, Delta State cannot observe the sit-at-home, advising that the best way resident can help government was for them to ignore the order.
Mrs Michael Jackson said that she thanked the Governor of Delta State for providing strict security in Bonsac today, expressing joy that the sit-at-home order did not hold again in her area in Bonsac.
It would be recalled that the Delta State Government, in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah, assured all residents of the state of their safety and asked everyone to go about their daily activities insisting that there was nothing like ‘sit-at-home’ in Delta state.
