THUR, MARCH 12 2020-theG&BJournal- Formula 1 top executives has called off season opening Australian Formula 1 after a McLaren mechanic was diagnosed with coronavirus. McLaren team member and four Haas team members were all put in self-isolation suffering with symptoms of COVID-19.
The news follows report that the Canadian Prime Minister’s wife is being tested for coronavirus after returning from the UK with flu-like symptoms, prompting the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to self-isolate and work from home.
In another development, reports say a Brazilian official who was part of a delegation that visited US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago tested positive for the infection.
Meanwhile more countries across Europe are shutting schools. Ireland and Spain announced they are shutting schools and universities, adding to the 363 million children already out of school.
The number of cases in the UK is now estimated at about 10,000. The UK Prime Minister branded coronavirus the ‘’worst public health crisis in a generation’’
