COVID-19: Nigeria’s coronavirus confirmed cases and death toll takes worrying turn

SUN, APRIL 19 2020-theG&BJournal- There have now been 542 confirmed cases and 19 deaths from coronavirus in the country, with the numbers in Lagos and Abuja racing dangerously ahead. A total of 166 patients have been discharged, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Lagos total of confirmed cases is at 306, explained by the increasing number of tests carried out and testing model put in place by the state government recently to fast-track testing and determine those that require testing.
The State government developed a COVID-19 Test Request form which can be accessed online to widen test coverage and track down contact cases.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the most affected age group are those between the ages of 31-40 and the total number of people of interest are 9221 as at Friday April 17. 7, 153 samples have been tested.
