COVID-19 Nigeria updates: MM1 and Nnamdi Azikiwe airports shut down as cases escalate in the country, emergency and essential flights exempted

    SAT, MARCH 21 2020-theG&BJournal- The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have announced the closure of Nigeria’s biggest airports, the Nnamdi Azikiwe and Murtala Muhammed Airport, to all operators and foreign operations flying into the country, with effect from Monday, March 23 to April 23, 2020.
    The closure today of the airports is in addition to the closure of Mallam Aminu Kano International airport, Akanu Ibiam International airport, Enugu and Port Harcourt International airport, Omagwa effective Saturday 21 March 2020.
    ‘’Henceforth, all airports in Nigeria are closed to all incoming international flights with exception of emergency and essential flights,’’ NCAA said in a statement signed by the Director General/CEO, Captain Musa S Nuhu.
    He said domestic flights will continue normal operations at all airports.
