COVID-19 Nigeria update: Confirmed cases mount in Lagos

THUR, MARCH 19 2020-theG&BJournal –Lagos is gradually assuming the position of Coronavirus (COVID-19) epicentre in Nigeria.
Nearly all of the reported confirmed cases have emanated from Lagos State, and the latest is that four new cases have been detected to take the tally in past 24 hours to nine.
The State’s Commissioner of Health Prof Akin Abayomi confirmed the new cases in a press conference Thursday. The new cases take Nigeria’s total of confirmed cases to 12, 11 in Lagos State.
The State government announced a series of measures Wednesday to curtail the spread of the deadly disease including restriction on all religious gatherings with more than 50 people and the shutting down of all public and private schools from Monday, 23rd March 2020.
Prof Akin Abayomi told newsmen that the government is currently following up over 1,300 contact cases.
