COVID-19 Nigeria: Total Confirmed cases in Lagos now 3,093 as NCDC reports 339 new cases nationwide

FRI, MAY 22 2020-theG&BJournal- Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) latest count shows another huge spike in daily coronavirus with more states recording larger numbers as well. The number of states reporting new cases went up from 13 (Wednesday) to 18 on Thursday.
Lagos State the epicentre, is now chasing the country’s total number of confirmed cases with a tally of 3,093 reported cases of the coronavirus. Kano and the FCT, the other areas with high numbers of infections have total of 875 and 446 confirmed cases respectively.
Confirmed cases now totals 7016 nationwide,- one of the countries with the fastest rate of growth in number of new infection in the continent. The number of people dead also is rising with another 11 counted yesterday to take fatalities to 211. 1907 cases have been discharged. 40,043 have so far been tested.
The 339 new cases are reported from 18 states- Lagos (139), Kano(28), Oyo (28), Edo (25), Katsina(22), Kaduna (18), Jigawa (14), Yobe(13), Plateau (13), FCT(11), Gombe (8), Ogun(5), Bauchi(4), Nasarawa(4), Delta (3), Ondo(2), Rivers (1), Adamawa(1).
The NCDC say that most of patients have mild to moderate symptoms and may remain active. Some others especially the elderly and those with underlying illness have severe illness.
