COVID-19 Nigeria: Pandemic begins to ruffle nerves as confirmed cases race through 1000

SAT, APRIL 25 2020-theG&BJournal- Nigerians will continue to wake up to sad news of the increasing number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus and the numbers will continue to climb because testing is increasing. That is how theG&BJournal health contributors summed up the new total of confirmed cases.
Lagos, the epicentre topped the chart again with 80 new cases to take its total 657 and surpassing the numbers recorded in most African countries. 114 new cases were registered in Nine States to take the country’s total to 1095 in 27 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
More patients have been discharged-208 in total (11 more), and 32 dead, one more on Friday. The NCDC say they have tested 10,061 as at Friday April 24, 2020-539 more than the previous day.
Meanwhile, the government is still having a hard time keeping people on lockdown but some state governments are beginning to take hard stance, extending border closures and threatening forced quarantine of violators. Some States-Benue and Cross Rivers have banned completely any visitors into the state as the pandemic begins to ruffle nerves.
