THUR, MAY 07 2020-theG&BJournal- Nigerians stranded in the US on the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak will now be airlifted back from Saturday 9th May 2020.
The evacuation excludes those who did not book and pay for a return ticket, according a statement issued by the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York.
270 passengers shall be accommodated in this evacuation batch and the Nigerian Consulate said they will attend to applicants on a first come, first served basis and will prioritize the list of evacuees according to their immigration status.
‘’This includes consideration for those stranded with proof of short stay visas, the elderly, families with children and returning students,’’ Consulate General said in a statement.
They will now be evacuated through a fresh arrangement with the Ethiopian Airlines from Newark, New Jersey to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The arrangement replaces earlier flight scheduled for 10th May 2020.
