COVID-19 Nigeria: Governor Ganduje extends Kano State lockdown

TUE, MAY 12 2020-theG&BJournal- The Kano State Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has announced a further 7-day lockdown of the state amidst the rapid spread of the disease across the State.
The Governor made the announcement in short tweet Tuesday saying that the decision was reached after consultations with the Federal Government.
‘’With our COVID-19 cases now almost 700, the lockdown will now be extended for another 7 days to slow the down the spread,’’ the Governor said.
64 positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed Monday in the state to take the total to 666, and making it the State with the fastest rising number of coronavirus infection. 571 of those are active cases. 32 have been officially registered as dead while 63 patients have been discharged.
The Aliko Dangote Foundation unveiled a 1,000 capacity mobile testing centre for COVID-19 for the State at the Muhammadu Buhari Hospital last week. 54Gene, a molecular diagnostics company specialized in research and diagnostics will be handling the testing which has been ramped up in the State.
