COVID-19 Nigeria: Confirmed new cases drop to 245, nationwide total now 7261

SAT, MAY 23 2020-theG&BJournal- Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 245 (339 for Thursday) new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) from 22 states on Friday. Most of the cases expectedly are in Lagos –131.
The rest of the states, Jigawa(16), Ogun (13), Borno (12), Kaduna (9), Oyo (9), Rivers (9), Ebonyi (9), Kano (8), Kwara (7), Katsina (5), Akwa Ibom (3), Sokoto (3), Bauchi (2), Yobe (2), Anambra (1), Gombe (1), Niger (1), Ondo (1), Plateau (1), FCT(1), Bayelsa(1), has a combined total of 113 new cases.
10  deaths were recorded in Nigeria taking the total to 221. Till date, 7261 cases have been confirmed, 2007 cases have been discharged. 41,907 samples have been tested as well.
The virus continues more men in the country than women. No explanation is offered yet on the trend. As at 21 May 2020, the disease has infected 4800 men (68%) from the total count and 2216 (32%). The most affected age group are those between 31 – 40 (24%).
