Consumers paid more for Cooking gas and Kerosene but less for diesel in January 2020

WED, FEB 19 2020-theG&BJournal- Nigerian consumes paid more on average for both cooking gas and Kerosene but less for diesel in January 2020, according to the latest National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) data published Tuesday.
The data follows the inflation figures released also by the NBS which showed inflation jumped to a 17-month high of 12.13% in January on food prices.
According to the NBS data, the average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Cooking Gas increased by 0.02% month-on-month and decreased by -1.02% year-on-year to N2,019.10 in January 2020 from N2,018.68 in December 2019.
The data showed that states with the highest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Bauchi (N2,500.00), Borno/Adamawa (N2,400) and Yobe (N2,321.23), while states with the highest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Cross River (N4,698.08), Akwa Ibom (N4,687.22) and Bayelsa (N4,620.00).
States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Ebonyi (N1,780.33), Enugu (N1,822.73) and Kaduna (N1,825.00).
The average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 0.10% month-on-month and decreased by -2.28% year-on-year to N4,180.24 in January 2020 from N4,176.20 in December 2019.
States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Zamfara (N3,700.00), Kano (N3,716.67) and Kaduna (N3,771.67).
Average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 0.93% month-on-month and by 5.61% year-on-year to N323.46 in January 2020 from N320.47 in December 2019.
For Kerosene, Borno (N275.93), Abuja (N276.33) and Kwara (N281.88) states paid the lowest average price per litre.
Similarly, average price per gallon paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 0.44% month-on-month and by 2.55% year-on-year to N1,218.09 in January 2020 from N1,212.75 in December 2019.
States with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Borno (N1,377.50), Adamawa (N1,335.00) and Katsina (N1,297.69).
States with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene were Bayelsa (N1,114.62), Bauchi (N1,122.22) and Imo (N1,135.31    ).
States with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Imo (N385.00) , Cross River (N367.88), and Gombe (N366.67).
Average price paid by consumers for automotive gas oil (diesel) decreased by -0.01% month-on-month and increased by 2.09% year-on-year to N229.78 in January 2020 from to N229.81 in December 2019. States with the highest average price of diesel were Taraba (N254.29), Benue (N251.67) and Borno (N245.00). States with the lowest average price of diesel were Rivers (N205.31), Delta (N210.91) and Bauchi (N216.21).
