TUE, 17 NOV, 2020-theGBJournal-Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation announced the latest development today with a brief twit on his handle, confirming our (theGBJournal) exclusive on Saturday 14 November, 2020 on the clearance given to German carrier, Lufthansa.
The Minister said also, that ‘’Qatar Airways is approved to start Abuja.’’
TheGBJournal reported exclusively last Saturday that, ‘’Lufthansa has been approved to resume operations to Nigeria and that sources familiar with the development say December flights are already bookable while they work towards reinstating some flights in November. Further detail is expected to be announced on Tuesday (today).’’
Nigeria suspended both local and international flights in May 2020, a move aimed at curtailing the spread of coronavirus in the country. The ban affected many carriers from the European Union (EU) including Germany.
Hadi Sirika also revealed the Ministry of Aviation is working with the Ministry of Health, CACOVID and the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 to open Kano, Port Harcourt and possibly Enugu airports before the end of the year.
