WED, DEC 20 2023-theGBJournal|The Colorado Supreme Court, in a stunning decision, has disqualified former U.S President, Donald J. Trump from holding future office, and cannot appear on the ballot in Colorado in 2024.

The Court directly quoted Justice Neil Gorsuch in their decision to disqualify Trump from the the 2024 ballot.

The Court, in its ruling said, ”In this appeal from a district court proceeding under the Colorado Election Code, the Supreme Court considers whether former President Donald J. Trump may appear on the Colorado Republican presidential primary ballot in 2024.

A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot.

The court stays its ruling until January 4, 2024, subject to any further appellate proceedings.”

The Fourteenth Amendment bars insurrectionists from running for office, and Trump was held responsible for the assault on the U.S Capitol nearly three years ago.

However, the ruling only applies to the State’s primary election on 5 March, 2024, when the Republican party voters will go to the poll to choose their preferred candidate for president.

This will be the first time Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment will be used to disqualify a presidential candidate.

Recall that similar attempts to remove Trump from the ballot in New Hampshire, Michigan and Minnesota failed.

The case against Trump was filed by six Republicans.

Meanwhile, the Colorado Republican Party have announced that it will withdraw from the Primary and convert to a pure caucus system if the states Supreme Court’s ruling Stands.
