CHINA, AUGUST 17, 2016 – The World’s longest and highest glass bridge would open to visitors on Saturday in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, central China, officials have said. The 430-meter long, six-meter wide bridge, paved with 99 panes of three-layer transparent glasses, hangs between two steep cliffs 300 meters above the ground.
The management committee of the bridge said in a statement on Wednesday in Changsha (China) that the bridge had set 10 world records, spanning its design and construction.
The committee said that a maximum of 8,000 visitors were allowed to cross the bridge daily and that a reservation must be made a day prior to visiting.
“Construction was completed in December; In July, a two-tonne truck was driven across in a show of the bridge’s sturdiness,’’ it said.
