TUE FEB 18 2025-theGBJournal| Renowned elder statesman and prominent Ijaw nation leader and legal luminary, Chief Edwin (EK) Clark has died, aged 97.

Born in Kiagbodo, Delta State, Nigeria, (EK) Clark died late Monday. Cause of death is yet to be determined.

The vocal political activist, came to limelight during the ex head of State, General Yakubu Gowan when he worked under the administration of then Bendel State (now Delta State) governor, Samuel Ogbemudia

Before then he was member of an advisory committee to the military governor of the then Mid-Western Region province, David Ejoor and was subsequently appointed a Federal Commissioner for Information in 1975.

His accomplished political career also saw him serve as an unofficial adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Often described as the undisputed ”national treasure” and an outstanding ambassador of the Ijaw nation who promoted justice, equity and equality for the people of the Niger Delta as well as someone who ensured the oil rich Niger Delta Region was not neglected.
