Central Bank of Nigeria postpones next week’s interest-rate meeting

THUR, SEPT 21 2023-theGBJournal |The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has deferred its 293rd Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting to decide the future interest-rate direction earlier scheduled for Monday and Tuesday September 25 and 26, 2023 respectively.

The apex bank announced the change of plan today in a circular published on its website and seen by theGBJournal.

The Bank said, ”we regret the any inconvenience this change may cause our stakeholders and the general public.

It is not clear the reason for the postponement but the MPC meeting would have been the first since the nomination of nomination of Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso to serve as the new Governor last week.

Cardoso nomination is pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
