The National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) on Monday said the salary dispute between Caverton Helicopters Limited and its workers would soon be resolved.

NUATE’s General Secretary, Mr Olayinka Abioye, said the union had held meetings with the management of the airline and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity to find an amicable solution to the issue.

“We are making progress and hopefully the issue will soon be resolved,” he said.

According to him, the union, following the intervention of the ministry, has decided to suspend any further industrial action against the airline.

The airline’s management and the aviation union had been in dispute over allegations of persistent anti-labour practices by the company.

The airline was alleged to have slashed staff salary by 50 per cent without due consultation with the workers.

However, the Managing Director of Caverton Helicopters Limited, Mr Josiah Choms, had told aviation correspondents that the company only reduced the salary of the workers which had been paid up to date.

Choms had noted that the clientele of the company had reduced due to the fall in oil price, adding that management had tried to explain the situation to the union.
