The Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), on Wednesday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s integrity accounted for ongoing recovering of the nation’s stolen funds.
The group said this in a statement released to newsmen in Abuja by Mr Muhammad Labbo and Mr Cassidy Madueke, the organisation’s Coordinator and Secretary, respectively.
It would be recalled that the Federal Government announced on Saturday that it had recovered over N115 billion stolen by previous public office holders.
According to the statement, Buhari was able to achieve such feat because he has for long identified corruption as one of the major problems afflicting the nation.
”With the level of poverty in Nigeria, it is indeed disheartening that Nigerians were mindlessly defrauded to the tune of trillions of Naira and billions of dollars.
”As we have always said, without the integrity of the President, it would not have been possible for Nigerians to realise the level of looting perpetrated under the PDP administration,” it said.
The statement solicited the support of Nigerians for the president, saying that with the administration’s determination to eschew corruption, the people should reciprocate with support.
”We are left in no doubt that the huge amount of money looted would have been channelled towards projects that will positively impact on all Nigerians including security, infrastructure, social services, health and education.
“We decry a situation where a few individuals use their privileged positions to siphon public resources, thereby short-changing the generality of the people.
“We appeal to all Nigerians to give their unalloyed support to the Buhari administration in its determination to curtail corruption in our public life, and recover all looted funds for the benefit of all Nigerians.
”We must bear in mind that this administration means well and is working in the best interest of all Nigerians, and as a people, we can only reciprocate by supporting the efforts of the administration,” it stated.
