TUE APRIL 29 2025-theGBJournal| The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) says it has finalized plans to launch two pioneer programme that will provide centralized digital platform for the training, assessment, and certification of procurement professionals.
The platforms are, Nigeria Procurement Certification Platform, and the Procurement Specific Node under the Sustainable Procurement Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Project (SPESSE), which is to be implemented in collaboration with the World Bank.
The launch of the platforms is set for April 30, 2025, at UBEC Digital Resource Centre Abuja, in line with BPP’s statutory mandate to promote transparency, accountability, and value-for-money in public procurement
The landmark initiative marks a significant milestone in the nation’s procurement process reform journey
The Director-General, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, who reveled initiatives, said the Bureau’s top priority through the launch of the Certification Portal is to enhance, standardize and integrate professionalization of procurement practice within Nigeria’s public and private sectors.
The platform will also simplify capacity Building and knowledge validation, and help re-enforce value for money, compliance, accountability to support implementation of SPESSE goals.
Dr. Adebowale expressed his gratitude to all Stakeholders including the World Bank, SPESSE, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and Head of Service (HOS) for their support and collaboration to ensure the success of the implementation of this programme.
Adebowale said the civil society organizations and Professional Bodies will be engaged to include their needs, in order to foster a competent and ethical procurement workforce that can drive sustainable development and growth.
The BPP Director-General urged all participants to key into the platform as BPP takes a decisive step towards establishing a professional, competent and accountable procurement cadre in Nigeria in line with international best practice
”This will impact positively on the nation’s economy, as well ensure that procurement officers are knowledgeable and well equipped to manage public resources effectively in line with the 2025 budget priorities,” Adebowale said.
