SAT NOV 30 2024-theGBJournal| FIFA has published the bid evaluation reports for the 2030 and 2034 editions of the FIFA World Cup™, which will be submitted to the Extraordinary FIFA Congress being held by video conference on Wednesday, 11 December 2024 to determine the hosts.
The bid evaluation report was released following a thorough assessment of each bid, including inspection visits to the bidding countries.
According to FIFA, The documents reflect the comprehensive evaluation model implemented by FIFA, which incorporates a variety of criteria, ranging from infrastructure, services and commercial aspects to event vision, sustainability, and human rights.
FIFA noted also that the bidding process for both instalments of the FIFA World Cup has been in line with the methodology behind the selection of the hosts of the FIFA World Cup 26™ and the 2023 and 2027 editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™.
Based on the conclusions of the reports and in accordance with the bidding regulations and the applicable scoring system, the following bids were deemed to exceed the minimum hosting requirements:
FIFA World Cup 2030™
Joint bid submitted by the Moroccan Football Association, the Portuguese Football Federation and the Spanish Football Association, and the Centenary Celebration submitted by the Uruguayan Football Association (one match), the Argentinian Football Association (one match) and the Paraguayan Football Association (one match), and Single bid submitted by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation for the FIFA World Cup 2034™.
Morocco / Portugal / Spain 2030
According to FIFA, the joint bid submitted by Morocco, Portugal and Spain looks to inspire and unite, using the collective passionbfor football across the three countries to bring people together and transcend boundaries, further tightening the bonds between two neighbouring continents and the world at large.
The world football governing body said in its report that this bid resonates closely with its rallying cry of “Football Unites the World”.
”Indeed, it is important to emphasise that, should the bid be successful, it will be the first FIFA World Cup hosted across two continents (and three continents when considering the integration of the Centenary Celebration), FIFA said in its evaluation report.
”The robust and consistent support from the governments of all three countries at the national, regional and city levels, evidenced through the securing of all government guarantees and host city agreements, is a strong signal that the bid has the full backing of many key stakeholders who will be pivotal to the success of the competition in 2030,” FIFA added.
Argentina / Paraguay / Uruguay Centenary Celebration bid
The bid by Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, according to FIFA, centres around the emotional and inspiring experience that the three countries would be able to deliver fans through the tournament’s return to its historic roots and the continent’s obsession with football.
”The bid confirms the capacity of the three countries to host a spectacular Centenary Celebration to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the first FIFA World Cup which took place in South America.”
With regard to the FIFA World Cup 2030, based on the results of the technical evaluation, the Morocco, Portugal and Spain 2030 bid received an average score of 4.2 out of 5.
With regard to the Centenary Celebration, based on the results of the technical evaluation, the bids of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay received an average score of 3.6 out of 5.
”Individually, they also met the minimum hosting requirements for each respective Centenary Celebration Match,” FIFA said.
The bid submitted by Saudi Arabia for the FIFA World Cup 2034™ presents a unique, innovative and ambitious vision for the “next century” of FIFA World Cups, FIFA said.
According to FIFA, the bid embodies a balanced blend of the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage together with its ongoing initiatives to expand and reform, a key cornerstone and foundation of which is its national strategic project: Vision 2030.
”First and foremost, the Saudi Arabia bid for the FIFA World Cup 2034 presents a very strong all-round proposition, reflected in the results of the technical evaluation, which assesses the proposed infrastructure (both sporting and general) as well as its commercial potential.
The bid proposes a portfolio of new, state-of-the-art infrastructure blending what is industry leading with novel elements, in some cases even exploring new terrain in terms of design and how stakeholders interact with the competition.
Based on the results of the technical evaluation, the Saudi Arabia bid received an average score of 4.2 out of 5.
