WED OCT 15 2025-theGBJournal| The Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri on Wednesday joined the hordes of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors dumping their membership of the party.
His resignation from the depleted opposition PDP follows barely 24 hours after the Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah defected from the embattled PDP to APC.
”I have resigned my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, and not resigning alone, as you can see I am here with Mr Speaker, Deputy Speaker and all the members of our party who are going to go with me,” Diri said during a broadcast from the State House in Yenagoa.
He said he has resigned his membership of the PDP for ”very obvious reasons”. He did not disclose the ”obvious reasons,” but his aides say that the full details of the ”obvious reasons” will be disclosed soon.
The Governor in the short broadcast expressed gratitude to his friends and supporters ”who have stood by us, and with us.”
