Kolmani Integrated Development Project

TUE, 22 NOV, 2022-theGBJournal| Bauchi and Gombe States, Nigeria, can now be classified as oil producing states like other oil producing states in the South of the country.

The classification follows the Presidential flag-off ceremony of the Kolmani Integrated Development Project, conducted today by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The project, which houses OPL 809 and OPL 810, will be developed by an Indian firm, Sterling Gobal Oil backed by the Indian Government, the NNDC (belonging to 19 Northern States) and the NNPC Limited. The Kolmani oil field holds an estimated 1 billion barrels of crude oil.

The well was first drilled in 2021 by the Nigerian Petroleum Develpment Company (NPDC) a subsidiary of the NNPC Limited, which in September of same year, began shopping for oil an exploration company that could develop the field.

Speculations are rife that a 120, 000 refinary will be built alongside a gas processing plant of up to 500 million standard cubic feet per day as well as a fertilizer plant of 2,500 tons and a 300MW gas power plant in the first phase of the project.
