Barack Obama praises Joe Biden as ”a patriot of the highest order”, as world leaders react

…Joe Biden becomes the second U.S President to abandon reelection bid since President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968.

MON JULY 22 2024-theGBJournal|Leaders around the world has been reacting since President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he is dropping out from reelection in the November election.

‘Joe Biden has been one of America’s most consequential presidents, as well as a dear friend and partner to me. Today, we’ve also been reminded — again — that he’s a patriot of the highest order,” Long time friend, boss and strongest backer, Barack Obama said in his reaction.

”For now, Michelle and I just want to express our love and gratitude to Joe and Jill for leading us so ably and courageously during these perilous times — and for their commitment to the ideals of freedom and equality that this country was founded on.”

Joe Biden is expected to speak to the nation later this week in more detail about his decision to stand down from seeking reelection ”in the best interest of our party and the country…and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the reminder of my term.”

Joe Biden becomes the second U.S President to abandon reelection bid since President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968.

”I respect President Biden’s decision and I look forward to us working together during the remainder of his presidency,” says Keir Stammer, UK Prime Minister.

Stammer added; ”I know that, as he has done throughout his remarkable career, President Biden will have made this decision based on what he believes is in the best interests of the American people.”

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will be United States’ strongest ally in the Middle East regardless of who is elected president in November.

Netanyahu will meet and thank President Biden ”for all he has done for Israel.”

”It was a great ride while its lasted,” says Ukraine President Volodymer Zelensky, who has received huge support from the Biden’s administration in pursuit of war against Russia.

”We will always be thankful for President Biden’s leadership. He supported our country during the most dramatic moment in history, assisted us in preventing Putin from occupying our country, and has continued to support us throughout this terrible war.”

German leader said Biden’s decision ”deserves respect.”

”Thanks to him, transatlantic cooperation is close, NATO is strong and the USA is a good and reliable partner for us,” he wrote on X.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau thanked Biden for years of service.

”He is a good man, and everything he does is guided by his love for his country. As a president, he is a partner to Canadians, and a true friend. To President Biden and the First Lady; thank you.”

Leaders from the East-Russia and China in particular remain unconcerned with the Kremlin saying it was ”monitoring the development.”

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris has been receiving endorsements from Democrats since Biden endorsed her bid for President on Sunday.

”I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win the nomination,” Harris said.
