MON, JUN 15 2020-theG&BJournal-The Ministry of Aviation have suspended the operations of ExecuJets indefinitely for what the Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika said is in ‘’clear violation of approval’’ given to the airline to operate.
The airline, the Minister said today during the Presidential Task Force (PTF) briefing in Abuja, will fined, the Captain of the flight will also be sanctioned for giving wrong information.
Pop artists Naira Marley was said to have been piloted by an ExecuJet aircraft weekend to Abuja from Lagos with a host of other celebrities for a concert at the Jabi Lake Mall in violation of the PTF guidelines on public gatherings, and negating the reasons why it was granted flight permission in the first place . The Mall has since been shut down by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The Minister explained that the Ministry granted the airline approval for the 14th of June, with leeway of 24 hours. ‘’The operator chose to fly on the 13th at about 6pm.
‘’It seems that people are not tired of trying our resolve, we will also not be tired of living up to our responsibility of keeping every one of safe. Governance is a serious matter and we don’t take things slightly in civil aviation because it means the lives of people.’’
He said the Nigerian aviation is ‘’highly regulated, international and we are one aviation.’’ Going forward, ‘’we will put our mechanism in place or escalate the ones we have in place to detract people from future violations,’’ and it also means the aviation ministry will be stricter in its approval.
‘’And one who dares us will meet the consequences,’’ the Minister warned sternly.
